Erin Schoepke is formally trained in fine arts and specializes in painting, and photography. Her nostalgia for all things antique, and passion for exploring new mediums has also led her more recently into frame restoration and finishing. Erin fuses her love of these varying disciplines into a mixed media, collage-style of work. Her paintings range in theme and subject, but often involve symbols, either personal or popular. Ideas evolve significantly in a single painting, as Erin reworks the composition, layering textures to create depth, until the concept as imagined, is revealed on wood panel. Erin is also passionate about teaching art to children, which she began when she was a Summer Art Camp instructor during college, and continues today at the Denver Students Art League. Helping kids “see like an artist” enriches Erin’s personal experience as an artist and offers a playful outlet to explore art. Erin completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Ringling School of Art & Design, Florida following her undergraduate courses at the University of Northern Colorado. Her artwork has been on exhibition in Tokyo, Japan and New York City, NY and also featured in 5280 Magazine. After pursuing her art education and career elsewhere, Erin’s longing for the changing seasons and genuine, good nature of the people, brought her back to Colorado where she now resides. |
